Years before the startup of the brewery the brewers of Eutropius started their own home brewery.
The brand 'Oscar', first a beer with no name, was the first beer that was succesfull. In competitions between friends who also brewed at home Oscar was mostly considered the best beer.
Oscar Bruin is the younger brother of the Oscar Blond. Containing 6,5% alc. vol. Oscar bruin is almost as light but because of the lower bitterness also much softer.
Most important it's the caramel malts that give the beer its typical flavour and its creamy mouthfeel.
A smooth brown beer to enjoy.
The recipe of Remembrance '14-'18 was developped in 2011. The point was to create a beer for a local remembrance of the Great War.
Southern West Flanders was heavily under fire during this period which had a lot of victims as a consequence. Not only soldiers but also way too many civilians fell during this period.
The Belgian army could fortunately count on the help of many foreign countries to save their homeland but unfortunately the price that was paid by every side was way too high.
Remembrance '14-'18 is therefore not a happy beer. A dry bitterness and sourness are typical and are chosen specifically to simulate the feeling we have about the tragic event that our country was the scenery of.
Made with 3 types of grains (barley, wheat and rye) and lots of bittering hops from our own Flanders fields Remembrance '14-'18 is a beer that has been made to make the consumer think about what happened.
With it's 10,8% abv the Vinkenier might be the strongest bier in our portfolio, it's also the beer with the softest taste.
A good description would be: smooth, finely hopped with a soft smooth aftertase.
Vinkenier is without any doubt the most drinkable beer of our brewery.
Vinkenier is brewed with pilsner malt and a firm dosage of munich malt. This in order to achieve a natural light amber colour.
Thanks to the full malt brews the beer gets its full body, round character.
Because of the mild saturation the beer also gets a nice drinkable touch which one can enjoy for a long time.
Vinkenier is definitely a degustation beer to relax with.
St. Tabarnak is the result of the collaboration between Brewery Eutropius and the Canadian death metal formation Kataklysm.
Tabarnak, derivative sland of the holy word "Tabernacle" from the Catholic Church, is commonly used as a swear word by French-speaking Quebecers.
The word is used as an interjection to express the intensity of an emotion, most commonly anger or astonishment, but can also take shape as a noun.
The St. Tabarnak is a fine blonde Belgian beer with a divin taste which should satisfy even the finest palates. It will tickle your taste buds with its sweet coriander aromas.
Thou shalt honour thy beer by drinking it to its last drop, and for the love of God, when your bottle will be empty, order another St. Tabarnak!
